We are pleased to announce that in collaboration with South Central Community College – Mankato campus, Mayo Clinic is offering an Apprenticeship for students pursuing a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) degree. This customized, hands-on experience paves the way for your success in healthcare. Earn your degree as an LPN and a paycheck as an apprentice and working as a Patient Care Assistant at Mayo Clinic. Through the MN Dual Pipeline grant, your educational fees will be covered, if accepted into the program.

Your path to success in three steps:

Currently a student in the Practical Nursing program at South Central College – North Mankato campusJoin the Mayo Clinic team as a Patient Care Assistant Apprentice; a student pursuing a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) degreeComplete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) - https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsaComplete all required documents to successfully participate in the program (Mayo Clinic and MN Dual Pipeline Grant)Join the Mayo Clinic team as a Patient Care Assistant (LPN Apprentice). Once admitted, you will receive financial compensation for one year of tuition, books, and fees ($6,500 - $7,200 value)

Nursing Assistant assists patients with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care, which support nursing practice under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. The nursing assistant carries out designated activities that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel. This includes assisting patients with activities of daily living, providing basic nursing care to patients and assisting in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.



Qualifications

Must be 18 years old. High school diploma/GED preferred. Special Skills: Demonstrates ability to multi-task under stressful situations. Demonstrates ability to communicate, collaborate and manage relationships with interdisciplinary members while maintaining patient/family centeredness and safety in a timely, efficient and equitable manner. Keyboard experience preferred.

BLS certification included in orientation program; successful completion required prior to first day in patient care.

2 year commitment to the department required.
