Patient Care Assistant
Overview

As our Patient Care Assistant at CHI St Vincent, you’ll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities.

In accordance with our mission and core values, this position is established to actively participate on the patient care team by providing basic bedside care and assisting patients with activities of daily living, under the direction of the RN.
Also providing non-clinical coordinator support for the unit consistent with established mission, vision, values, and organizational culture. Teamwork is a vital component to the same, through effective collaboration efforts.

Responsibilities
Performs treatments and patient care proceduresPerforms or assists ADLs according to the Patient Plan of CarePerforms or assists in procedures/treatments according to Nursing Policy and Procedure Manual.Determines need for and properly implements safety measures for patients in a timely manner.Responds to patient call lights and emergency lights in a timely manner.Prepares patients for meals and snacks. Offers assistance as needed.Maintains a safe environment: follows OSHA requirements including Universal Precautions.


Qualifications

High School diploma, GED, Metropolitan Test or equivalent required

BLS required within 30 days of hire

One of these requirements must be satisfied:
1) Certified Nursing Assistant (EMT acceptable for ED area), or
2) Completion of “Fundamentals of Nursing” in an accredited
RN or LPN nursing program, or
3) Minimum of 6 months of direct patient care in an acute care
environment within the last 24 months
