Patient Care Assistant-Operating Room-Full Time
Position Summary: Provides general support tasks (clinical and non‐clinical) for assigned patient care area. Works with other members of the patient care team to deliver care to patients’ population specific. In addition, the Care Partner will maintain competency levels defined for population specific groups to the patient care area with consideration to physical, communication, safety, nutrition, and psychosocial needs Education, License & Cert: High School Graduate/GED and/or successful completion of a competency assessment in reading, writing, and math. Must have successfully completed a CNA training course or be currently enrolled in a registered nurse program and have successfully completed a fundamental of nursing course, or have previously completed internal training for the care partner role. CNA training course preferred Experience: Previous patient care experience preferred, but not required. Essential Functions: 1. Participates in the delivery of patient care for population specific groups under the direction of an RN 2. Performs and records accurately: • Temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, and weights 3. Transports patients 4. Participates in patient safety/patient satisfaction. • Answers call bells promptly • Reports need for equipment repair • Maintains neat and tidy environment (empties laundry, delivers equipment, keeps patient rooms clean and safe). • Inventories and assures disposition of patients' belongings when admitted, transferred, and/or discharged. • Maintains inventory of patient care area specific supplies • Recognizes emergency situations and initiates plan of action 5. Complies with policies and procedures of the hospital/nursing department. 6. Participates in performance improvement activities to improve service and care. Other Duties: 1. Assists in the orientation of new personnel and serves as a role model to other Care Partners 2. Demonstrates willingness to accept non‐routine work assignments as appropriate. 3. Is authorized to access secured storage areas in the performance of essential job functions and duties. 4.
