Job Overview: The Patient Care Associate (also referred to as PCA) is a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team. The PCA works under the direct supervision of the registered nurse to provide care to patients with diverse psychiatric illnesses. All methods of practice and/or work performance shall conform to written established hospital policies and procedures and be carried to the highest achievable level of competence in a manner demonstrating concern and consideration. Qualifications: Required: + High School Diploma or GED + Successful completion of all Orientation Programs + Minimum of one-year experience as a PCA working with geriatric patients Preferred: + New Jersey State certification as a PCA Certifications and Licenses Required: + BLS Certification from American Heart Association Scheduling Requirements: + 12-hour day shifts + Per Diem Essential Functions: + Take and record vital signs + Assisting patients with ADL's + Assists with nutritional needs of patient + Completes personal hygiene for assigned patients + Provide one to one and group supervision of patients + Transports patients to ancillary departments and emergency rooms Choosing RWJBarnabas Health!
