Med-Surg/Telemetry is located on 4 Central and is an area of the hospital where special machines are used to help staff closely monitor patients. Patients are under continuous electronic monitoring while on a telemetry unit. This automatically communicates measurements (heart rate, heart rhythm, breathing and more) to a monitoring station for a medical professional to view and evaluate.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Patient Care Assistant will assist in patient care duties. Direct patient care is done under the direction of a Registered Nurse and within the scope of sound professional nursing practice to be delegated. The PCA will also perform other assigned duties for which they have been specifically trained for.
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent. BLS Certification through the American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire or transferred to department.
Training & Experience:
Must have knowledge of some medical and technical terminology and be familiar with hospital policies and procedures. Computer Training will be completed as part of orientation.
