Patient Care Coordinator and Allergy Research Registered Nurse (RN)

The **Patient Care Coordinator and Allergy Research Registered Nurse (RN)** is a blended position with responsibilities in two distinct areas/departments. The patient care coordinator RN provides patient care and case coordination to persons with HIV infection including pre and post test counseling, education of patient, family/significant others, staff and community. Assesses need for medical, social, psychological interventions and facilitates appropriate referrals; established working relationships between community based service providers and hospitals to assure continuity of care. The Allergy Research RN provides support to the faculty of the Allergy & Immunology division both in investigation case studies and supports the faculty in poster/publication creation, publication and submission to national conferences. **Responsibilities** A day in the life of a **Patient Care Coordinator and Allergy Research Registered Nurse (RN)** at **Hackensack Meridian** **_Health_** includes: **Ryan White Grant:** + Provides pre and post test counseling for clients regarding HIV testing/results. + Grant Manager for Ryan White Grant; responsibilities include: + Write and submit a completed annual application for Ryan White Grant. + Coordinate and provide necessary documentation for reimbursement of clinic services through grant. + Oversight of fund management and electronic communication monthly in compliance with the federal and state regulations for the Ryan White grant. + Attend mandatory meetings for Ryan White Grant. + Coordinates and submits reports for the federal research project Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS). + Tracks monthly expenses and reimbursement for services provided under the grant. + Provides education for clients, family, significant others regarding HIV infection, AIDS, as the situation requires. + Provides educational programs as requested for hospital staff and community (World AIDS Day). + Prepares and updates educational materials for patient's families and community. + Develops individual care plan for clients in coordination with others involved in care (physician, social worker, nurse) + Assesses need for dietary counseling, social services, financial assistance, support group, etc. Arranges referrals through appropriate channels. + Coordinates arrangements for home care, meals-on-wheels and other community agencies. Initiates referrals for entitlements as appropriate. + Maintains expertise as AIDS coordinator through participation in appropriate continuing education programs. + Member of the Infection Control Antibiotic Committee. + Facilitates working relationships between non-hospital and hospitals to assure continuity of care. Ensures that patient confidentiality is maintained. + Other duties and/or projects as assigned. + Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. **Allergy & Immunology Division Research Support:** + Assists the principal investigators in the preparation and conduction of clinical trials. + Collaborates in development and preparation of regulatory documents. + Recruits, evaluates and enrolls participants in clinical/research protocols. + Develops and conducts patient and family education. + Develops study patient education materials + Obtains informed consent from study participants. + Provides nursing care/assessments and monitoring to participants. + Conducts study procedures per protocol. + Monitors participants for adverse events and reports findings to the principal investigators. + Maintains strict adherence to study timelines, protocols and guidelines. + Assures that protocol revisions, informed consents, continuing reviews and serious adverse events are submitted to the IRB in a timely manner. + Accurately documents study-related data. + Maintains accurate, complete and up-to-date records on each participant. + Assists with IRB submissions and maintenance of regulatory documentation. + Acts as a liaison between participants, research teams and health care providers. + Adheres to Good Clinical Practice guidelines, institutional policies and ethical standards. + Provides assistance and develops case reports and/or databases for physician initiated studies. + Prepares and assists for sponsor monitor site visits. + Acts as principal investigator's representative as appropriate. + Assists the principal investigator and physicians in publication of medical and scientific literature. + Attends research meetings and conferences as required. + Assists with community outreach programs within the Division of Allergy and Immunology. + Provides assistance to principal investigators and physicians with medical literature searches. **Qualifications** **Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:** + Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN). + Minimum of 3 years nursing or social work experience. + Adheres to the American Nurses Association standards. + Strong attention to detail and customer service focus is required. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms. + Ability to relate effectively to all levels of the clinical and administrative structure of the medical center. **Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:** + HIV antibody testing and counseling training. **Licenses and Certifications Required:** + NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License. + AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 60 days of entering position.
