Job DescriptionPATIENT CARE COORDINATOR Clinician I (Medical Assistant)JOB TITLE: Patient Care Coordinator -Medical Assistant (MA)SUPERVISION RECEIVED FROM: Under medical provider, RN, or LVN direction.
SCOPE OF PRACTICE: Medical assistants are unlicensed and may only perform basicadministrative, clerical, and technical supportive services as permitted by law. An unlicensedperson may not diagnose, treat, or perform any task that is invasive or requires assessment.The responsibility for the appropriate use of unlicensed persons in health care delivery restswith the physician.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires full range of body motion including handling andlifting patients, manual finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing andwalking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires the ability tocommunicate clearly with staff and patients. Requires working under stressful conditions orworking irregular hours. Requires exposure to communicable diseased and body fluids.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxicsubstances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under medical provider, RN, or LVN direction, andoperating within the scope of practice as a patient care coordinator, provides nursing care forclinic patients following established standards and practices. This includes routine officeprocedures, testing, and miscellaneous duties indirectly involved in patient care.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)1. Provides direct patient care; collect and record accurate patient data; height, weight,temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and chief complaint. Prepares patient forexam or procedure and provides appropriate assistance and resources.2. Assists provider during procedures, which may include administering treatments, suchas irrigation, dressing changes, and specimen collection.
