Get to Know Your Team: UT Health Athens is a 127-bed facility, including a 24-hour ED, designated as a Level IV trauma center and Level III stroke center; advanced diagnostic technology; 10-bed ICU; maternity unit radiation therapy center; and a stand-alone ED in Gun Barrel City. Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT: Responsibilities The Patient Care Tech works in partnership with the licensed nurse to support the delivery of care in a safe patient environment that promotes caring and healing. Demonstrate basic knowledge and skills necessary to communicate appropriately and carry out delegated tasks for age specific populations under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Record data as directed by policy and procedure, and reports observations and patient concerns to the licensed nurse. Duties of a PCT include, but may not be limited to, obtaining vital signs; Assisting patients with basic tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and eating and other ADLs; Collecting specimens for lab tests; and assistance with monitoring of patients. Qualifications Job Requirements: High School diploma or GED. Completion of approved CNA or PCT certification required, or may be in senior year of nursing school with less than one semester to complete the nursing program. Must maintain active certification with in the State of Texas. BLS required – must have certification within 30 days of hire or transfer into position. Training, education and competencies completed annually for any additional duties required. Preferred Job Requirements: 2- year experience in acute care hospital or long term care facility preferred
