Responsibilities Work under limited supervision of nursing and medical staff and with full proficiency to perform all duties, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs. Observe patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurse or other medical staff. Obtain and record patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests. Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties. Measure and record patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines, assist patients with range of motion, and draw blood. Assist in providing treatments to patients, perform technical procedures such as feeding tube and catheter administration, suture/staple removal, splinting of extremities, and perform ECGs as ordered. Coordinate daily activities for assigned unit to include general clerical and administrative support and participates in performance improvement activities to enhance and maintain personal and department qualifications and standards of performance. Qualifications Job Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent Completion of approved CNA or PCT certification required, or may be in senior year of nursing school with less than one semester to complete the nursing program. requirement. Must maintain active certification with in the State of Texas. Competent to perform in at least two general areas of practice (cross trained and cross competent to cover more than one hospital service, role, or function). BLS required – must have certification within 30 days of hire or transfer into position. Training, education and competencies completed annually for any additional duties required. Preferred Job Requirements: 5 years' experience in acute or long-term care. Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
