1. Observation/Monitoring
Assist with admissions, discharges and transfersObtain and record vital signs including: temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation and reports abnormal values to RNRespond to monitor alarmsAssist with connecting to monitors and calibrationApply ECG electrodes and pulse ox probe; attach patient to travel monitorDoppler auscultation of pulsesObtain and record height and weightMeasure and record intake and outputEmpty and record outputs from drains, urinary catheter, bedpan, urinal, etc.Label and secure patient belongings including sensory aides and assist devices2. Junior status in an accredited BSN program2nd year in accredited ADN programBachelors Degree in Applied Medical Sciencea minimum 1-year recent experience in an unlicensed assistive role in a patient care setting, such as nurse aide in a hospital settinga minimum two years experience in in an unlicensed assistive role in a patient care setting in a nursing home or other health care environmentDesired Qualifications*Attended and passed CNA course or CNA state certificationRecent experience in an acute care inpatient settingBasic computer skillsDemontrated communication skills, both written and verbal.Work ScheduleThe work schedule consists of the five 8hr day shifts or four 10hr day shifts, Monday-Saturday. Shifts are 5:30a-2p or 5:30a-4p with the exception of Thursday at 6:30a-3p or 6:30a-5p.

Background ScreeningMichigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
