GENERAL SUMMARY

Performs basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision. Responsibilities: Aids with movement and placement of patients.| Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.| Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Documents necessary records.| Keeps patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintains medical equipment.| Performs emergency department specific care/duties as assigned within scope of job.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: - Basic reading, writing and mathematical skills normally acquired through the completion of a high school education or GED program. - Competence acquired through one of the following is required: - Emergency Medical Technician certification. - Completion of (2) clinical semesters in a school of nursing program. - Six (6) months of previous experience in an emergency department in a position that required skills in venipuncture, EKGs, urinary catheterization, knowledge of sterile technique, and splint application in the last two (2) years. - CNA with 1-2 years of experience.
