Maintains a safe environment and follows the Infant Security and Abduction Policy.Assists nurses with patient transportation and other patient-care tasks.Cross-trains as a unit secretary; covers the front desk, answers call systems/phones and monitors infant security.Discontinues Foley catheters and medication locks as directed by the RN.Discharges patients as needed to support L&D transfers.Assists with transferring patients to outside facilities by obtaining medical records; monitors infection-control practices of visitors and support staff.Prepares the unit and patient rooms for admissions, transfers, and post-operative patients.Uses proper body mechanics when positioning, lifting, turning, and ambulating patients.Reports changes in patient condition or behavior to the nurse promptly.Provides safe care to newborn, adolescent, and adult patients.Accurately takes and records vital signs in the patient record.Distributes water and records intake and output as needed.Weighs patients; records weights and notifies the nurse of changes.Performs patient rounds at least every two hours.Assists the nurse with post-mortem care.Provides patient care as directed by the licensed nurse, including enemas, sitz baths, blood glucose monitoring, and simple dressing changes.Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:
· State of Florida Nursing Assistant Certification Preferred
· BLS Certification Required
· 1 year of experience preferred
· High School Diploma preferred
