Patient Financial Counselor
Description We are in search of a Patient Financial Counselor for a short-term contract employment opportunity in WAUKEGAN, Illinois, United States. The chosen individual will operate within the healthcare industry, working closely with patients and insurance companies to manage financial matters related to patient care. The role will require a deep understanding of insurance plans, hospital business operations, and patient financial counseling. Responsibilities: • Accurately process patient credit applications in a timely manner • Maintain precise records of patient credit and financial interactions • Respond to and resolve patient financial inquiries effectively • Monitor patient accounts and take necessary action based on account status • Familiarize with various insurance coverage plans, copayments, and deductibles to provide accurate information to patients • Demonstrate a basic understanding of public assistance programs and required financial forms • Utilize Microsoft Office applications efficiently, with a strong focus on Excel • Employ basic mathematical and analytical skills to resolve financial issues • Learn and adapt to the MedHost patient accounting software system quickly • Manage time effectively to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment • Utilize strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients and team members professionally • Adapt to various computer programs such as Allscripts, Banner Ads, EHR SYSTEM, Epic Application, and others related to patient care and financial management. • Assist patients with understanding their financial responsibilities and aid in their claim administration • Handle billing functions and benefit functions with accuracy and professionalism. Requirements • Proficiency in Allscripts and Epic Application • Familiarity with Banner Ads and other Computer Programs • Experience with EHR SYSTEM • Ability to assist patients with financial inquiries and concerns • Knowledge of authorizations, benefit functions, billing functions, and claim administration • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion • Experience in a healthcare or medical setting is a plus • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
