Responsibilities The PFS Analyst is responsible for supporting the daily activities of the Patient Financial Services department through the effective use of information technology systems. This includes a variety of tasks such as planning, implementation, documentation, report writing, data analysis, and system maintenance. The analyst utilizes system analysis skills, query tools, and system definition tools to ensure that financial systems run efficiently and meet the needs of the department. The role also involves system setup, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and user training, with a focus on identifying and resolving issues related to financial systems modules. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity). Qualifications Minimum Education: HS diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or a related field preferred. Minimum Experience: Minimum of 8 years of extensive experience in revenue cycle, with a focus on hospital inpatient/outpatient billing and coding required. Experience with billing software such as Epic, Cerner, or similar systems. Knowledge of payer-specific contract terms and payment methodologies. Understanding of patient financial assistance programs and how they impact account management. Skills: In-depth knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems. Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing and regulations. Proficiency in medical billing software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to research and resolve complex billing issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with insurance companies, patients, and internal teams. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word; required. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.
