**Job Summary:**
VUMC Temp Force has full-time, possible temp to hire opportunities for a host/hostess (patient food server) at our main adult hospital. As a host/hostess, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to VUMC patients. You will be in the kitchen to plate food and out in the hospital to deliver the plated meals several times during your shift. It is a physical role and requires pushing, bending and moving throughout the hospital to your assigned floors. You must also be comfortable using a tablet to take the patient’s meal selections.

**Position Qualifications:**
**Responsibilities:**
+ Ensures food safety and quality.
+ Sets up stations with entrees, soups and other food products and utensils.
+ Serves and replenishes steam tables and breaks down stations at the end of meal service.
+ Apportions and places food servings on plates and trays according to diet list on menu tickets.
+ Reads menu tickets on trays to determine items to place on trays.
+ Places utensils and condiments on trays
+ Examines filled trays for completeness and places it on large carts.
+ Delivers trays to patient rooms as needed.
+ Cleans and sanitizes workstations, counters, steam tables and equipment.
+ Restocks beverage areas.
+ Washes dishes and will be assigned other duties as needed.
**TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES**

Discusses options with customer for alternative ways to meet expectations cost-effectively and efficiently. • Medical Terminology & Documentation (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with medical terminology and documentation.
• Food Services Supervision (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate food services supervision in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
• Hosting & Reception (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of hosting and reception in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering results without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.
