Patient Identity Quality Analyst

Job Summary

Actively works with Health Information Management, Registration and the MPI Coordinator to minimize creation of duplicate numbers, clean up duplicate numbers identified in the CAMC Health System MPI and to create systems to improve positive identification of patients to insure patient safety objectives with regard to positive patient identification are met.

 

Responsibilities

• Analyze and identify data integrity problems with patient records.

• Identify and eliminate duplicate patient records by merging patient data records into a single, longitudinal patient history.

• Report patient data corrections, merge progress and status to affected departments and end users.

• Interact with users, regularly, to monitor customer problems and application understanding.

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Competency Statement

Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.

9. Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Education 

• High School Diploma or GED (Required)

 Experience: 3 years experience in HIM, Registration, or I/S working with Master Patient Index issues

 Substitution: 3 years direct experience may substitute for the competency requirements or at the director's discretion 

Comment: Competent in: 1. assigned components of assigned application systems. 2. minor changes to application systems programs as directed. 3. preparation and maintenance of appropriate documentation related to the assigned application. 4. MS-OFFICE tools. 5. outage/downtime procedures practices.
