Minimum Requirements: 

High School diploma with additional courses in medical terminology, bookkeeping, computer use, office machines and ability to work accurately with figures.  Two years in a clerical health care setting preferred.  Complete the nine (9) courses assigned for the Patient Registration Counselor within the registration education module.  These courses include HIPAA Overview, Registration and Insurance Basics, and Service Excellence.  These courses are designed to improve employee performance and gain competence in the role as well as enhance the patient experience.  A passing grade of 80 is required for all courses and courses must be completed within 6 months of date of hire.  These nine courses are the basic level of the 26 prerequisite courses required for certification as a Patient Access Specialist (CPAS) Deliver outstanding customer service that upholds CarolinaEast's Standards of Excellence.
