Watches patients at all times, never leaves the patient unattended without proper relief Identifies behaviors, events, or environmental factors that may predispose a patient to violent/destructive actions or increased agitation, reports signs of escalation to the patient’s nurse Maintains a safe environment for the patient in their room, removes dangerous items and screens items brought by visitors Assists with patient ambulation and positioning of patients under nursing oversight Maintains patient information confidentiality Effectively solves problems and resolves conflicts Effectively communicates with patients, families, visitors, team members, physicians, and other hospital personnel Performs efficiently and effectively under stress Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assignedRequirements and Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Experience working with vulnerable patient populations including psychiatric and dementia populations preferred. BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General Orientation MOAB Certification during General Orientation Safe patient handling to include ambulation and positioning of patients during orientationWorking Conditions:
Must be able to move or traverse with/without accommodation Must be able to reach arms above or below shoulder height Must be able to maintain a standing position Must be able to maintain a sitting position Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc. Must be able to lift and move up to 35lbs
