Patient Safety Technician - Per Diem NMC
Job Function: 01. Job Function: 01. Assists patient with activities of daily living. Assists with meals and feeds patients as needed under the instruction of the RN. Assists in mobility and ambulation as per RN instruction Job Function: 02Assists with reality orientation and distraction techniques: story-telling, reading, playing games, signing, etc. Ensures patient safety measures: bed alarm on, bed in low position, tubes out of reach, appropriate bed rail position, bed brakes are locked, call bell/TV control within reach of patient prior to leaving patient room. Ensures visual rounds are completed as per individual patient requirement to ensure patient needs are met and patients are safe Job Function: 03. Observes and maintains isolation precautions. Maintains standard precautions on all patients. Washes hands before and after caring for each patient. Follows instructions on isolation signs when indicated. Maintains a neat environment. Job Function: 04. Receives and provides SBAR report at the beginning and end of shift. Reports changes in patient's condition. Documents all behaviors, interventions provided and patient responses in a timely manner. Appropriately escalates any concerns Job Function: 0 5. Provides emotional support to patient and significant others. Observes for and responds to emotional needs of patient and/or significant others. Reports observations to RN for follow up. Observes RN instructions to patients and provides consistent reinforcement as needed. Job Function: 06. Maintains a safe environment. Adheres to OSHA, TJC, Board of Health, and hospital standards and requirements . Maintains a professional appearance at all times. Attends staff meetings consistently (minimumally 6 per year) and reviews meeting minutes for those missed. Participates in yearly validations of unit skills. Maintains clean and safe environment for patients and staff in accordance with hospital policies and other regulatory agencies. Checks for patient's identification prior to any interventions. Follows hospital policies including cell phone use. Job Function: 07.
