Patient Service Representative - Cayuga Orthopedics\n

\u202fPatient Services Representative is a unique position that varies daily based on the clinical or clerical staffing needs of the practice. Duties often include supporting the physicians and\/or mid-level providers in the practice with clinical activities and direct patient care as well as assisting patients and staff with the administrative and clerical needs of the practice.\n
Roles and Responsibilities:\n\nCheck in patients upon arrival.\nVerify\/Update patient demographics.\nScan insurance cards.\nObtain signatures on required forms (HIPAA, etc.).\nUpdate status in Medent (arrived, waiting, etc.).\nCollect outstanding balances and co-pays.\nAssist with additional scheduling such as labs, x-rays, procedures or testing; send orders.\nTake messages or triage phone calls.\nSchedule patient appointments.\nInitiate paperwork for insurance referrals and pre-authorizations.\nMail new patient questionnaire.\nPrint schedules for the next day.\nPlace provider meetings in Medent.\nAppointment confirmation calls in some offices.\nCheck out patient and print CVS.\nResponsible for daily cash out and bank deposit.\nTurn phones over to\/from answering service.\nAnswer\/direct incoming phone calls; triage as appropriate.\nMake appointments over the phone with appropriate provider.\nPlace new and returning patients in provider schedule according to office protocols\/provider template.\nMake follow up appointments.\nOpen\/organize templates for providers.\nAssist with physician meeting scheduling (in some practices).\nCall for insurance referrals and pre-authorizations.\n\n

Education and Training:\n\nHigh School diploma or equivalent\nPrevious medical office experience preferred\nCollege level training\/education in a healthcare support field preferred\nPrevious EMR use\/training helpful\nPhysical requirements:\nSitting-- 90%\nStanding-- 10%\nReaching-- 50%\nBending-- 20%\nLifting-- must be able to lift 25 lb.\n\n

Compensation Disclosure:\n\n$15-$23 per hour\n\n
