(https://hr.uw.edu/benefits/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/02/benefits-classified-staff-20210208.pdf) The **Harborview Medical Center's Abuse and Trauma Center** has an outstanding opportunity for a **Part-time Days Patient Services Specialist-(job profile): Patient Services Specialist 3** . **WORK SCHEDULE** + 80% FTE Days + Monday- Friday 830am- 500pm **POSITION HIGHLIGHTS** + Conveniently located near public transportation + Make a difference for the patients and employees we serve + Opportunity to provide career growth **PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES** + Serve as back up for transfer of evidence from the HMC ED to HATC to include following all chain of evidence procedures and documentation + Run and audit monthly revenue reports to review Charge Captures for medical visits and serve as back up for SANE processing billing + Assist patients and family members by providing information about the medical exam or counseling appointment, explaining procedures, obtaining prior records, obtaining necessary consents for care and signed releases of information, and providing information and referrals to additional resources in the community + Responsible for completing timely and accurate documentation and entry of all patient information into HATC/HMC data entry systems + Collect and update patient financial information; determine eligibility for care; assign appropriate payor plans; work with UWP and HMC billing offices to correct errors and do health insurance verifications for medical and counseling appointments + Facilitate all necessary patient paperwork to support transportation to and from medical appointments. This includes help with bus and parking tickets, and other patient accessibility needs + Facilitate communication with medical providers who refer patients or consider referral for medical evaluations at HATC and who will provide follow up care + Work with HATC medical providers, HMC ED medical staff and social workers, and other HMC medical clinic providers to coordinate care for sexual assault and physical assault victims + Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to addressing systemic oppression in serving diverse populations **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** + High school diploma or GED equivalent + Three years of Patient Support Service experience **OR** + An equivalent combination of education/experience **ABOUT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER** As the region's only?Level?I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
