High School diploma or equivalent required. BLS from AHA certification required. Ability to speak and write English Language required. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Patient Care education or direct patient care experience required. Must have computer proficiency.POSITION SUMMARY
As an integral part of the patient care team, the Patient TeleSitter Technician provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients through remote video monitoring, in order to maintain patient safety. The Technician professionally communicates with nursing staff on each observed patient, reviewing safety concerns and understanding current clinical issues. These observations include increased anxiety, increased agitation, and/or visual cues (e.g. attempt to climb out of bed, unable to reach bedside table) for safety observations. The Technician responds in accordance with procedures for patient care and within approved TeleSitter admission criteria. The Technician must demonstrate the ability to be flexible, set priorities, solve problems and use good judgment in difficult situations.
The Patient TeleSitter Technician assists customers in a friendly, prompt, caring manner, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and respect. This position works as part of the care team to meet the needs of the customer and to support team objectives, assisting other team members when necessary. The Technician is knowledgeable and supportive of patient and institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
The position requires considerable standing, reaching and walking. Visual and physical ability required to work at a computer terminal. Requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

This position reports to the Nursing Resources Department.
