Pattern and Gating Designer/Pattern Supervisor

If you are seeking an opportunity as a Pattern and Gating Designer/Pattern Supervisor, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in Erie, PA within our Urick Ductile Solutions business, you will supervise the translation of the customers’ goals or vision into a physical product. You will lead pattern technicians and direct, maintain and enforce the safety of the Pattern Shop department, work with customers on new tooling, ECNs, and repairs, quote new work, and assist the Sales department and customers with the design of patterns to make castings.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

•    Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports. 
•    Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
•    Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications. 
•    Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications. 
•    Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles. 
•    Investigate and lead multi-functional teams in the evaluation of scrap/defects in castings and develop C/M plans.
•    Use of computer-assisted design software; Solid Edge & Nova Flow
•    Provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems and needs. 
•    Build gating systems for tooling based on 3D drawings or blueprints. 
•    Conduct trials, track progress, develop reports, and present findings. 
•    Recommend design modifications for improvements to current or proposed products. 
•    Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications, and the necessity of modification. 
•    Functional use of hand tools/power tools to build gating, risering, and runner systems. 
•    Pattern billing
•    Perform personnel functions such as supervision of technicians.

For This Role, You Will Need:

High School Diploma / GED or equivalent experience Two-year Technical design degree or 5+ years of related design experience in pattern design and castings.
A minimum of 5 years of foundry tooling experience  A minimum of 3 years of supervisory / lead experience Flow solidification software experience, such as Solidworks or similar  Machining experience,  Experience in a quality engineering capacity working with tooling, and statistical capability studies. CAD experience in 2D and 3D design, translating customer needs into 2D and 3D designs.  Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook, Oracle) Mathematical Proficiency, basic geometric-dimensioning-and-tolerancing (GD&T) Quoting and billing guidelines. Basic understanding of the functions of calipers. Computer-based knowledge of blueprint software.  Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.

 Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

Faro Arm 3D Scanning experience or similar scanning software Craftsmanship
