Payment Posting Specialist **Hillcrest Family Services** 1 Positions ID: 206040 Posted On 03/07/2025 **Job Overview** **Your Responsibilities** As the **Payment Posting Specialist** you are responsible for accurately and efficiently posting payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts in accordance with company policies and industry regulations. This role ensures all transactions are properly recorded, reconciled, and discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner. The specialist plays a vital role in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting the revenue cycle process. Additional duties include: + Accurately post and reconcile payments daily from various sources such as checks, credit cards, electronic funds transfers (EFTs), insurance companies and other third-party payers. This include manually posting payments as needed. + Verify that the amount received matches the invoice or claim, identify discrepancies, and research issues with missing or incorrect payments. + Analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) from insurance companies to correctly post payments based on allowed charges, co-pays, and deductibles. + Update patient accounts with payment information, including adjustments and denials, and ensure accurate account balances. + Prepare batches of payments for posting to the billing system, including data entry and balancing. + Identify and resolve billing errors, including incorrect patient information, coding issues, or payment discrepancies. + Generate reports on payment trends, outstanding balances, and other key metrics to inform revenue cycle management. + Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies, reimbursement guidelines, and payment processing guidelines. + Identify trends in payment discrepancies and suggest process improvements. + Respond to internal and external inquiries related to payment postings. + Ensure confidentiality and security of patient financial information. + Other duties as assigned. **What You Need** + High school diploma or equivalent + Prior experience with payment posting and remittance to third party payers. + Experience working with electronic health records (EHRs). + Familiarity with Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA), and reconciliation. + Knowledge of CPT codes, ICD-10 codes and medical terminology strongly preferred. + Proficiency in medical billing software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). + Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial transactions. + Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently. + Effective communication and interpersonal skills. + Knowledge of HIPAA and other regulatory compliance requirements. **What Makes You Stand Out** + Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience with payment posting and remittance to third party payers. + Experience working with NetSmart. + Strong organizational and multitasking skills. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) + Familiar with office equipment. + Detail oriented, proactive and capable of handling confidential information with discretion. **Competitive benefits package for full-time employees working 30+ hours a week:** + Health insurance (up to 79% employer paid) + Dental insurance + Vision insurance + 401(k) with profit sharing and employer match + Paid time off (accrue up to 80 hours during first year of employment; increases based on tenure with agency) + 10 paid holidays + 80 hours sick time + 2 wellness days + Staff development and training + Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligibility for federal student loans + Employer paid CEU's through Relias + PerkSpot- employee discount program + Employee assistance program + Advancement opportunities **About the Organization** Hillcrest Family Services is a non-profit organization that assists adults and children in need of help.
