The Payroll Accountant will work closely with the HR and Accounting teams to streamline payroll procedures and support other accounting functions as needed. **Disclaimer:** The responsibilities outlined in this job posting are not all-inclusive. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to meet organizational and operational needs. **Key Responsibilities:** + Prepare payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll accounts weekly. + Ensure accuracy of payroll-related balance sheet and income statement accounts. + Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures related to payroll. + Ensure payroll complies with federal, state, and local laws, including taxes, benefits, and reporting requirements. + Prepare and file payroll taxes, W-2s, and other payroll-related government reports. + Stay updated on payroll tax laws and ensure the company’s payroll system reflects the latest changes. + Implement and maintain strong internal controls for payroll processes. + Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll. + Process regular payroll runs (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly) for employees, ensuring accuracy in wages, deductions, bonuses, and overtime. + Manage and maintain payroll system updates, ensuring employee data is accurate. + Handle garnishments, child support, and other wage assignments. + Work closely with the HR team to ensure employee data is correct (new hires, terminations, salary changes, etc.). + Maintain and ensure the security of employee payroll data within the payroll system. **Skills and Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. + 2-5 years of experience in payroll processing and payroll accounting. + Familiarity with accounting and payroll software (e.g., Paycom). + Strong understanding of payroll processes and regulations. + Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial software. + Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask. + Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. + Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with various departments. + Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC). - **(Preferred)** **Work Environment:** + Office setting with the potential for remote or hybrid work depending on company policies. **Mission** We are trusted engineering partners enabling the construction community through responsive, expert problem solving.
