Payroll Accountant

STRIVE stands for Safety, Teamwork, Responsiveness, Integrity, Value, and Excellence. **Job Summary:** This role involves reconciling payroll accounts, processing payroll tax filings, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies. The Payroll Accountant will work closely with the HR and Accounting teams to streamline payroll procedures and support other accounting functions as needed. **Disclaimer:** The responsibilities outlined in this job posting are not all-inclusive. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to meet organizational and operational needs. **Key Responsibilities:** + Prepare payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll accounts weekly. + Ensure accuracy of payroll-related balance sheet and income statement accounts. + Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures related to payroll. + Ensure payroll complies with federal, state, and local laws, including taxes, benefits, and reporting requirements. + Prepare and file payroll taxes, W-2s, and other payroll-related government reports. + Stay updated on payroll tax laws and ensure the company’s payroll system reflects the latest changes. + Implement and maintain strong internal controls for payroll processes. + Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll. + Process regular payroll runs (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly) for employees, ensuring accuracy in wages, deductions, bonuses, and overtime. + Manage and maintain payroll system updates, ensuring employee data is accurate. + Handle garnishments, child support, and other wage assignments. + Work closely with the HR team to ensure employee data is correct (new hires, terminations, salary changes, etc.). + Maintain and ensure the security of employee payroll data within the payroll system. **Skills and Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. + 2-5 years of experience in payroll processing and payroll accounting. + Familiarity with accounting and payroll software (e.g., Paycom). + Strong understanding of payroll processes and regulations. + Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial software. + Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask. + Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. + Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with various departments. + Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC). - **(Preferred)** **Work Environment:** + Office setting with the potential for remote or hybrid work depending on company policies. **Mission** We are trusted engineering partners enabling the construction community through responsive, expert problem solving.
