Job Description:

This is an onsite position located in Champaign, IL.

 

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to join our team. This role reports to the VP of Finance on the Accounting team, working closely with the HR team to ensure accurate tracking and processing of payroll and employee information.  This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and resolving payroll-related issues. The ideal candidate will have strong numerical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of payroll systems and processes.  

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Process and review payroll for employees in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy in hours worked, salary, deductions, and benefits.Calculate and input payroll data, including overtime, bonuses, commissions, and other forms of compensation.Verify employee attendance, time off, and leave records.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations.Process financial journal entries.Reconcile employee benefits enrollments to vendor billing, investigate and resolve discrepancies.Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, deductions, and benefits.Coordinate with the HR department to maintain employee records related to compensation and benefits.Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure proper documentation for auditing purposes.Process and track benefits deductions, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits.Work with external vendors and government agencies on payroll-related issues, such as tax filings and benefit processing.Assist with year-end payroll activities, including tax reporting and reconciliation.Handle all audit responses and requirements.Stay up to date with changes in payroll laws, tax codes, and regulations to ensure compliance.Identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues in payroll processing.Provide payroll reports and analysis to management as required.Other Accounting duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications: 

Proven experience in payroll processing, with a strong understanding of payroll systems and software.   Knowledge of payroll tax laws, benefits administration, and compliance requirements.Experience with construction industry preferred.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Attention to detail and accuracy in handling payroll data.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar systems) required.Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field

Compensation & Benefits:

The salary range for this position is: $70,000 - $90,000/annually

 

Actual base pay for this job will depend on the candidate's primary work location and other factors, such as relevant skills and experience. Pavlov Media is committed to complying with the Equal Pay Act and places a strong emphasis on internal equity when determining compensation. Final pay will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and alignment with our internal equity standards, ensuring fairness and consistency across the organization. The salary banding for this role also allows room for growth, with opportunities for pay increases within the band based on performance and contributions.
