Payroll Accountant - Remote

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.

Understands and adheres to the importance of total confidentiality of all activities within the Payroll Department.

Demonstrates initiative to resolve problems / issues and to include supervisor in special situations only.

Demonstrates wise time management.

Balances Payroll to the General Ledger.

Resolves all Payroll to General Ledger issues.

Creates journal entries to balance costing for Tax payments, and post garnishment payments to the General Ledger.

Balances tax files and exceptions to and from Tax Provider on a run by run, quarterly, and year end basis..

Reconciles Wire Payments to Tax Vendor to the Payroll Tax Files

Post month end journal entries for PTO liability and FTE calculations.

Provides support to leadership when needed.

Provides documentation for financial audits and 990s for the Finance department for payroll data

Assists with Budget preparation, and quarter and year end processing.

Other duties include supporting the day to day operations as it relates to accounting and balancing of the GL and Tax Accounts.     

Work Schedule: 80 hours bi-weekly
 

 

Preferred Qualifications/Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or 5+ years of Payroll Accounting experience Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel  Must have good written and oral communication skills and be a team player. Must be able to adapt quickly to changing technologies, switch from complex to routine tasks when required and multi-task. Must be able to determine what needs priority and has the ability to complete the necessary steps to ensure it gets completed accurately and in a timely fashion.

 

Licenses and/or Certifications:

Certified Payroll Professional Certification preferred
