Payroll Administrator II

Job Purpose:
This position reports to the Payroll Manager and performs a wide variety of record-keeping and payroll processing activities including auditing of timekeeping records, pay calculations, verification of employee changes affecting biweekly paychecks, and remittance of tax withholdings and other deductions from pay to appropriate agencies
Essential Functions:
Analyzes and resolves discrepancies pertaining to paycheck errors and arranges for adjustment on subsequent check or prepares manual check depending upon circumstances. Responds to inquiries pertaining to Time Reporting for all employee types that may result in processing prior period adjustments. Prepares and remits Federal, State and Local tax withholdings to Third Party Administrator as well as analyzes/resolves discrepancies with TPA, Accounting, and/or outside government agencies; balances withholdings to monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports. Processes employee voluntary and involuntary deduction activity including child support orders, creditor garnishments, tax levies, generates/maintains remittances of same to/from various agencies. Performs general clerical support including mail distribution, filing, scanning, copying, ordering office supplies, maintaining office machinery (copier/fax machines and printers), and handling of proprietary data and legal documents. Maintains and protects various confidential employee data and files and/or Company proprietary business information. Utilizes various software platforms including but not limited to PeopleSoft and Microsoft suite of products to perform duties including preparation of routine reports, correspondence, etc. Interacts with various Human Resources/Accounting functions to provide supporting documentation for employment, benefits, personnel records, medical, staffing, safety, or performance development purposes. May be required to cross-train others. Performs ad hoc analyses as requested. Overtime (scheduled and/or unscheduled) may be required.
Education:
Four years of High School or equivalent
Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses:
FPC designation preferred but not required
Relevant Work Experience:
2 to 4 years in related field
Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience with the Microsoft Suite of products Experience with an HCM platform (ideally ADP) Experience in an office clerical environment Detail and results-oriented with a high degree of accuracy Able to prioritize workload and respond to short deadlines Above average written and oral communication skills Able to work independently with minimal supervision
