ABOUT BROCK The Brock Group is a leading provider of industrial specialty services to clients around the world with headquarters in Houston TX and operating units in Canada the United States and Latin America With the Canadian head office in Edmonton the company supports routine maintenance turnarounds and industrial capital projects by providing services including scaffolding and work access insulation fireproofing and asbestos abatement for general maintenance construction turnarounds and shutdowns to western Canadian producers SUMMARY Payroll Administrator will assist in all activities regarding the management of employee compensation new hire packages and union remittances in the company They are responsible to undertake a variety of tasks such as entering new hire information entering payroll information calculating wages employee withholdings union remittances and making payments Minimum Required Qualifications Minimum of two yearsrsquo experience in payroll administration Knowledge and experience with an ERP system is preferred Posses advanced troubleshooting and communication skills to solve complex problems Organized detailed oriented and works independently Professional and concise communication in written and oral form Strong computer skills and proficient in Excel Word Outlook and PowerPoint Strong organizational and interpersonal skills Excels operating in a fast paced team environment Good analytical skills and basic payroll knowledge Essential Functions Manage compensation and new hire packages using payroll software Collect and verify timekeeping information for all employees Calculate pay according to hours worked incorporating leaves and overtime Calculate bonuses and commissions when appropriate Manage and calculate taxes and deductions using payroll software Initiate periodical payments timely either by making direct deposits Issues statements and invoices and maintain records Update paper and electronic payroll records by entering adjustments on pay rates employee status changes etc Calculate unemployment and severance payments issue ROErsquos Deal with complaints and questions regarding payroll from employees and upper management Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll Prepare and submit reports with payroll information to supervisor Perform other duties as assigned OTHER FUNCTIONSSUCCESS FACTORS Administration and Management Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning resource allocation human resources modeling leadership technique production methods and coordination of people and resources Personnel and Human Resources Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment selection training compensation and benefits labor relations and negotiation and personnel information systems Public Safety and Security Knowledge of relevant equipment policies procedures and strategies to promote effective local state or national security operations for the protection of people data property and institutions Coordination Adjusting actions in relation to others actions Management of Personnel Resources Motivating developing and directing people as they work identifying the best people for the job Judgment and Decision Making Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one Critical Thinking Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to problems Time Management Managing ones own time and the time of others Mathematics Using mathematics to solve problems Active Learning Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem solving and decision making Monitoring MonitoringAssessing performance of yourself other individuals or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action Reading Comprehension Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents Oral Expression The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand Oral Comprehension The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences Written Comprehension The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing Problem Sensitivity The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong It does not involve solving the problem only recognizing there is a problem Written Expression The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand Speech Clarity The ability to speak clearly so others can understand y Department Shared ServicesThis is a full time positionShift Flights Accommodations Start Date ASAP
