No County Dutchess Street Address Office of Human Resources 25 Center Circle City Wassaic State NY Zip Code 12592 Duties Description Duties include, but are not limited to:• Process payroll documents and payroll transactions• Check for completeness and process in appropriate computer systems payroll documents such as direct deposit forms, tax forms, and other forms related to payroll transactions• Review transactions submitted to the payroll office by ensuring that position and employee information is complete and is consistent with data entered in all payroll computer systems. Update, or change information in payroll systems as necessary• Calculate salaries and other wage information for agency employees• Calculate and process salary increases, longevity payments, and performance advances• Provide customer service to agency employees on payroll related issues• Answer various types of questions from employees and managers concerning general payroll topics• Write responses to authorized inquiries from banks, insurance companies, and government agencies regarding standard employee wage and benefit information• Assist agency payroll supervisors in resolving payroll certification issues and payroll processing errors• Review standard payroll reports to ensure that payroll transactions are processed properly• Process corrective payroll or payroll related transactions in various computer systems to rectify payroll errors and/or certification issues• Provide back-up for the payroll examiner• Provide HR desk coverage and Front Door coverage as needed.• Other duties as assigned https://www.linkedin.com/company/nys-office-for-people-with-developmental-disabilities/posts/?feedView=all #LI-DL2 Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive: Payroll Assistant: One year of payroll experience, which included computing time worked, salaries, and deductions. Payroll Assistant Trainee: There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this title. Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.• The position may be filled at the Payroll Assistant Trainee level equated to SG-6 ($35,177) or full performance Payroll Assistant SG-9 ($41,399) based on education and experience. A Mid-Hudson adjustment of $1,650 will be added to all salaries. Candidates hired at the trainee level will be advanced to the full performance Payroll Assistant SG-9 following successful completion of the traineeship.• If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee.• For CSEA positions: Local Bidding Agreements will be honored.• Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures.
