The Opportunity

As the Payroll Associate, you will have the opportunity to:

Be responsible for assisting in preparing payrolls for processing with a bi-weekly and weekly frequency. This includes direct deposit, tax, and garnishment setup Own the payroll inbox-providing adequate responses to Black and Veatch employees Work under close supervision
  The Team

Black & Veatch’s Business Enablement consists of critical groups that help enable the organizations people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible. Functions in this group include Digital & Information Technology, Global Finance, Global Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Processing: 

Updates direct deposit information for professionals  Upload income withholding orders (IWO’s) into ADP website and/or set-up child support and garnishment orders and submit for payment for assigned entities  Update the Global Payroll SharePoint site and manage any necessary changes  Develop and maintain TEAMS site for ETS Coordinators to improve communication between the payroll department and ETS Coordinator teams  Coordinates various benefit/compensation file uploads  Assists fellow co-workers in reviewing payroll output or reports Answers inquiries as designated from the Payroll general inquiry box  Annually assists payroll manager with year-end vacation payout process  Assists with additional projects, as assigned 

Compliance: 

Serves as a specialist having technical knowledge 

Reporting: 

Generates and provides various payroll reports (system provided and ad hoc) and queries to Payroll Manager for reconciliation purposes  

Controls: 

Researches reconciliation issues   Reconciles payroll payments for non-assigned entities  

Systems: 

Assists IT Support and Payroll Manager in testing program changes to the payroll system 

Supervisory and Resource Management: 

Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvement

Primary Internal Clients: 

Payroll team, Treasury, HR, Department Heads, andETS Coordinators 

Management Responsibilities: 

As a necessary aspect of the management, personnel or pay administration functions, this position has access to confidential personnel records and pay information not otherwise available. This position is responsible for protecting and maintaining the privacy of such records and information Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Technical Skills:

Data entry Microsoft Excel, Intermediate Knowledge of payroll taxes and regulations, preferred Knowledge of General Ledger Systems Knowledge of Payroll Systems, Basic  

Preferred Non-Technical Skills:

Organizing Planning Written Communications Informing Peer Relationships  Problem Solving  Dealing with Ambiguity
  Minimum Qualifications Typically two years of experience or Bachelor's degree in relevant field All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations. Work Environment/Physical Demands Typical office environment with a hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office and 2 days remote Extensive keyboarding, no travel, limited overtime
