Payroll/Benefits Specialist
Job Title: Payroll/Benefits Specialist

Job Description

The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll, as well as the administration of employee benefits programs. This role ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations while supporting the overall financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities

•\tPayroll Processing:

•\tPerform daily payroll related operations

•\tManage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely

•\tCreate and maintain complete and accurate payroll records such as reviewing and entering changes in exemptions, insurance elections, deductions, PTO, status, and wages

•\tPrepare the biweekly payroll by verifying timesheet data and entering payroll information into payroll database

•\tAssist with supervisor timeclock review for accurate reporting.

•\tCalculate and record all payroll related journal entries in the accounting system (payroll, taxes, 401k, PTO)

•\tRespond to payroll-related and/or time and attendance related inquiries and resolve issues

•\tPrepare periodic payroll reports for review by management

•\tProcess year-end reporting as necessary (W-2, etc.)

•\tAssist with quarterly 941 reconciliations.

•\tAssist with other accounting tasks as needed

•\tManage payroll taxes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

•\tBenefits Administration:

o\tAdminister employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks.

o\tSupport open enrollment periods through benefits administration.

o\tEnsure all benefits-related changes (e.g., enrollments, terminations) are processed correctly in a timely manner.

o\tMaintain benefits records.

•\tCompliance & Reporting:

o\tPrepare and file necessary regulatory reports, including tax filings and year-end reports.

o\tAssist with audits related to payroll and benefits.

•\tEmployee Support:

o\tAct as a point of contact for employees regarding payroll and time and attendance questions.

o\tProvide guidance on payroll-related issues.

•\tRecord Keeping & Data Management:

o\tMaintain and update payroll and benefits records in the HRIS (Human Resource Information System) or related software.

o\tEnsure all employee payroll and benefits information is accurate and confidential.

Essential Skills3+ years of experience in payroll (payroll journal entries, reports, reconciliations) 2+ years of benefits experience (enrollment, employee benefit programs)Strong interpersonal skills Work Environment

This position will be onsite in Allendale, NJ. Hours are 8:30am-5pm

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
