Assists with processing payroll and compliance as needed, running reports, communicating payroll information to the field and home office employees, and initiating the payroll cycles. Research information and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll and compliance. Ensures checks are printed and distributed timely. Prints and issues payroll checks. Trains, provides direction, and coordinates activities of other coordinators. Processes store hourly payroll, including store opening trainers, as needed to fill in for payroll team members who are away from the office. Research and audit for accuracy payroll transmissions including corrections to timecards, hours worked, vacation requests, etc. Enters and balances various payroll transactions such as tips, rehires, terminations in error, etc. · Researches and resolves payroll discrepancies (i.e. wrong employee numbers, hours charged to wrong stores, job class, rate of pay, deductions, etc.). Balances registers with transmittals incorporating all payroll corrections to include sick pay, back pay, vacation, bonus, borrowed manpower, insufficient/excessive tips, etc. · Ensures that all direct deposits, Paycard and paper checks are printed and distributed timely. · Processes new hire paperwork such as W4s. Maintains payroll records for W-2s; processes and issues W-2 forms. Provides year-end processing of W2s including reporting to the government and vendors. (i.e. Netspend). · Orders stop payments on lost checks; verifies check status with bank to ensure that it has not cleared. Processes replacement checks. · Collaborates with Accounts Payable as needed on a variety of tasks. · Processes unclaimed property. · Research requests from legal. · Provide primary and backup for MSBC payroll. · Research and resolve issues with General Ledger, including reconciliations, posting cycles, settlements, trials, adjusting entries, year-end processes, refunds, write-offs, etc. · Review federal, state, and local tax forms and update as needed · Monitors employee terminations, leaves of absence and return to work for payroll actions. · Collaborate with Compensation & Benefits, Risk Management, HRIS, Accounting, and other internal department on a variety of issues. · Research and resolve employee payroll questions and assists employees with resolution; includes Skylight Netspend, OLWS, tax forms, check deductions, pay rates, time worked, etc. · Provide back up for payroll coordinators and compliance representatives as needed. · Act as primary and back up for MIT salary and payroll begins. · Processes Skyposits requests. · Trains new payroll coordinators and assists them with issues/questions. · Ensure phone coverage for 8:15 – 5:15 CT for payroll and compliance. · Other duties as assigned. **WHAT YOU'LL NEED** High School Diploma and 3-5 years Cracker Barrel payroll experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. · Basic knowledge of accounting. · Strong oral communication skills. · Strong knowledge of Cracker Barrel payroll systems and departmental operations. · Strong knowledge of state and federal wage and hour laws, and local, state and federal taxation laws. · Strong mathematical skills. · Knowledge of banking procedures regarding direct deposit. · Auditing skills. · Proficient computer skills. **WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU  ** + **Compensation:** Competitive Salary + **Care for Your Well-being:** Medical, Rx, Dental and Vision Benefits on Day 1 | Life Insurance and Disability Coverage | Paid Vacation/Employee Assistance Program + **Growth and Development:** Business Resource Groups | Tuition Reimbursement | Professional Development + **Invest in Your Future:** 401k Plan with Company Matching Contributions at 90 days | Employee Stock Purchase Program + **Even More to Look Forward to:** 35% Discount on Cracker Barrel Food and Retail items **ABOUT US** _For more than 50 years, we have committed to serving up a sense of warmth and hospitality across hundreds of stores across the country.
