Payroll Manager Brooklyn, NY (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=592+Rockaway+Avenue+Brooklyn+NY+USA+11212) Description Under direct supervision of the Managing Associate Director of Finance/Controller, the Payroll Manager ensures the accuracy and integrity of the payroll system and ensures that all related information is secure and confidential. The Payroll Manager works closely with the Human Resources Department to achieve and maintain accuracy and uniformity in information and presentation. Maintaining confidentiality is critical for this position. Essential Functions and Duties: · Orients new employees on proper time keeping and payroll schedules and process. · Ensures that all employee information relevant for payroll processing is entered and recorded timely and properly. · Troubleshoots and maintains employee time keeping system. · Performs periodic analyses and comparisons of budgeted labor, actual hours, time and leave utilization by unit/department, division, and for the entire company as needed. · Provides analyses and reports on a monthly or as needed basis to various levels of management within the Corporation. · Assists Managing Associate Director of Finance with payroll and budget reconciliations. · Processes, reviews, and maintains the proper usage and functioning of the timekeeping system and external payroll processor. · Responsible for transmittal of approved time records to the external payroll processor on a weekly basis or as needed. · Summarizes payroll deductions and requests appropriate journal entries. · Reviews the accuracy and timely payments to third parties for all payroll deductions. (1199 Union & non-garnishment deductions, 401k, insurance etc.) · Ensures response to payroll requests from all employees. Develops monthly report summarizing all payroll related issues. · Coordinates with the Managing Associate Director of Finance and Human Resources Department to ensure accuracy of payroll allocation reports by Site, Dept and FTE. · Ensures that all required analysis, signatures, and approval are in place before any additions, deletions, or modifications are made to any element/component of the payroll system · Assists Managing Associate Director of Finance with payroll reconciliations and schedules for the annual independent audit and various periodic payroll related audits · Prepares staffing data for annual Operating Budget and UDS. · Other duties or special projects will be assigned by the Managing Associate Director of Finance or CFO as needed. Requirements Required Skills/Abilities: · Experienced and knowledgeable in all aspects of payroll and working with a payroll processor such as Paylocity, ADP or equivalent payroll systems. · Experience with state-of-the-art facial recognition timekeeping systems or equivalent. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills. · Ability to work flexible hours. · Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others. · Computer literate; skillful in Microsoft 365, Outlook, Excel, Word PowerPoint etc. · Experienced in automated accounting systems. Microsoft Navision General ledger is a plus. Education and Experience: · Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution. · Three to five years’ experience as a payroll manager for a medium sized multi department business. · Experience managing a minimum of one direct report. Physical Requirements: · Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. · Must be able to travel to all company locations in all types of weather
