Job Description
The Payroll Specialist will ensure accurate processing and recording of the company's payroll, provide timely and accurate financial information, and participate in daily data entry payroll processing, month-end, and quarter-end financial deadlines.
ResponsibilitiesProcess weekly and biweekly payrolls, including Austin Lane timesheet uploads into JDE.Coordinate with local and field offices for approvals and edit corrections.Audit and review new hires, terminations, employee changes, and tax set-up to ensure payroll accuracy.Perform JDE calculations for gross to net payroll, create journal entries, and transmit wage payments and ACH bank files.Manage union and rate set-up by reviewing Collective Bargaining Agreements to update JDE tables, coordinating with local offices, project managers, and the legal department for missing data.Essential SkillsProficiency in union payroll and garnishments.Experience with multi-state payroll processing.Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and vlookups.3+ years of payroll experience managing payroll for 100+ employees.6+ months of union payroll experience.6+ months of construction industry experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with JDEdwards is a plus.Transit payroll experience is advantageous.Knowledge in payroll tax reconciliation.Assistance with payroll-related audits.Work Environment
The role is within a construction and maintenance company, specifically working with the LIRR in a Corporate Shared Services environment located in Farmingdale. The department consists of around 50 employees, with a somewhat outdated but friendly and laid-back atmosphere. The team enjoys a fun work environment while ensuring professional delivery of services. The position reports to the Payroll Director and is part of a team of 9 people.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
