Payroll Specialist
Description Robert Half is currently seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Payroll Specialist for our esteemed client. This is your opportunity to join a collaborative, fast-paced team and contribute to accurate payroll processing while enhancing your professional growth. Primary Responsibilities: + Process multi-state payroll for salaried, hourly, and contingent workforce employees, ensuring compliance with company policies and state/federal regulations. + Maintain employee payroll records, handling changes such as tax withholdings, direct deposits, and benefits deductions. + Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee inquiries related to compensation, timekeeping, and tax-related adjustments. + Handle payroll journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, and provide assistance during audits. + Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and labor laws. + Manage and execute end-to-end payroll procedures, including quarter-end and year-end reporting, such as W-2s and 1099s. + Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to streamline payroll and benefits processes. + Monitor garnishments, vacation accruals, and overtime to maintain compliance and accuracy. Requirements + Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field preferred. + Minimum of 2+ years of experience directly processing payroll. + Proficiency with payroll software such as ADP, Paychex, Workday, or Ceridian is highly desirable. + Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and data manipulation + Familiarity with multi-state and/or union payroll processing is a plus. + Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills. Preferred Attributes: + Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a significant plus. + Knowledge of payroll systems improvements or payroll migration projects is a desirable asset.
