Description We are looking for a skilled Payroll Specialist to join a dynamic team in New York, New York. This long-term contract position offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a respected non-profit organization. The role requires expertise in payroll processing, tax compliance, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all payroll-related activities. Responsibilities: • Process monthly and semi-monthly payroll for employees, ensuring timely and accurate payments. • Handle payroll liability payments, including garnishments and deductions, in compliance with regulations. • Prepare and file payroll taxes accurately and in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements. • Record payroll journal entries and reconcile related accounts to maintain financial integrity. • Manage cash disbursements and wire transfer payments effectively. • Support the Controller during fiscal year-end audits, including reconciliations and detailed analyses. • Assist with generating and submitting audit reports and responding to audit requests. • Utilize advanced Excel functions for payroll analyses and reporting. • Ensure compliance with multi-state and union/non-union payroll regulations. • Provide ad-hoc support to finance team members as needed. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing and financial operations. • Proficiency in full-cycle payroll, including multi-state and union/non-union payroll. • Strong knowledge of UKG Pro and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. • Familiarity with payroll tax regulations and garnishments. • Experience in conducting audits and preparing audit reports. • Ability to manage payroll journal entries and reconciliations accurately. • Excellent organizational and time-management skills. • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
