Payroll Specialists answer payroll questions from employees and produce payroll reports when requested by managers. They collect and process financial information from new employees, such bank account information, biweekly pay, and termination pay for those who leave the company. You will be responsible for processing and auditing payroll for multi-state dental practices, ensuring timely and accurate payment to all employees. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of payroll principles, strong problem-solving skills, and advanced Microsoft Excel expertise.

Responsibilities Responsible for processing and auditing payroll for multi-state dental practices, including corporate, for both exempt and non-exempt employees, ensuring timely and accurate paymentMaintain employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, garnishments, direct deposit and tax changesUnderstanding of multi-entity employeesAudit payroll data for accuracy, including hours, wages, bonuses, expense reimbursement, and deductionsReconcile payroll prior to tramission and validate reports after processingResearch and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries in a timely and professional mannerPrepare and audit reports related to payroll taxes, W-2s, and quarterly filingsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulationsCollaborate with HR, Accounting/Finance, and Operations teams on payroll-related issuesAssist with payroll system upgrades, testing, and process improvementsPrepare and enter biweekly payroll in UKG for over 4500 employeesHave a strong understanding of our company pay practices and handbook, particularly as it relates to employees’ PTO and Sick time. Audit employee balances as necessaryProduce ad hoc payroll reportsConducts training sessions for departmental representatives to explain payroll policies and procedures, state and federal regulations and laws Qualifications At least five years prior payroll processing experienceCertified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferredExperience in processing multi-state payrollGreat understanding of federal and state laws and taxes pertaining to payroll processingExperience with UKG and Dimensions payroll/HR/timekeeping softwareExceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skillsAbility to handle confidential information with discretionStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills including formulas, filtering, pivot tables and VLOOKUP’sExperience in healthcare or dental payroll is a plusBachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant discipline preferred
