Position Overview

Are you detail-oriented, analytical, and thrive in a fast-paced environment? We’re seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to take ownership of wage garnishments, including court orders, child support, tax levies, and creditor deductions. You’ll ensure accurate, timely processing in full compliance with federal and state laws, while handling sensitive employee data with absolute discretion. This role also provides support across banking, taxation, and core payroll operations, working closely with HR and legal teams. 

Responsibilities 

Set up and manage all court-ordered deductions, including child support and Chapter 13 bankruptcy 

Accurately process ACH payments for child support and other garnishments 

Respond promptly to garnishment-related inquiries via HR payroll email and phone support 

Complete legal documentation, including Interrogatories and Creditor Answers 

Coordinate with third-party vendors and government agencies for garnishment disbursements 

Handle returned direct deposits, stop payments, and reversals 

Conduct routine payroll audits and sign-offs to ensure SOX compliance 

Process and remit voluntary and involuntary payroll deductions accurately and on time 

Monitor and resolve payroll exceptions in the banking portal 

Maintain and update payroll policies, procedures, and training documentation 

Assist with payroll processing cycles, reconciliations, and internal audits 

Verify timekeeping data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policy and labor regulations 

Support weekly unemployment claims filings and related documentation 

Qualifications Required: 

Minimum 3 years of payroll experience, with strong knowledge of federal and state wage garnishment laws 

Experience with multi-state payroll operations 

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP) 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential data 

Preferred: 

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, HR, or related field 

Experience using Workday or similar payroll systems 

FPC or CPP certification is a plus

Special Requirements: 

Willing to work all Mondays including holidays.  Willing to work weekends and evenings as needed. Incumbents must be able to work under time constraints to ensure deadlines are met.  Must be able to prioritize, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
