Payroll Specialist
Johnson Service Group is looking for a Hybrid Payroll Specialist (1-3 month contract) in the San Francisco Bay Area to support accurate and timely processing of payroll across the U.S., Canada, and select international entities. This person will handle payroll preparation, audits, and employee inquiries while partnering closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors.


Responsibilities: Process U.S. and Canadian payrolls for 400+ employees. Review payroll data and reports for accuracy before transmission. Prepare and fund HSA/FSA and 401(k) contributions post-payroll. Assist with international payrolls through third-party providers (EOR/PEO). Support new state or locality tax setups as needed. Resolve employee payroll questions and discrepancies. Process wage garnishments, child support, and levies. Maintain payroll documentation and assist with audits. Manage timecard submissions and ensure accurate calculations.
Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on payroll experience. Bachelor's degree preferred Hybrid San Francisco Bay Area Experience with Paylocity  Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general reporting. Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, Hybrid environment.
$27-38/hr.
