Payroll Specialist

Purpose of Role: The Payroll Specialist will provide a range of transactional, administrative, financial and reporting functions within the Payroll Team and is accountable for the accurate and timely processing of payroll in accordance with the employment legislative framework as well as all company policies and procedures

Key Responsibilities:

·         End to end processing of selected weekly and/or monthly payrolls.

·         On-going maintenance of payroll system as applicable.

·         Updating and maintaining payroll records.

·         Liaising with staff and management on payroll related queries.

·         Maintaining leave, sickness and overtime records.

·         Interpreting awards/contracts in relation to overtime, shift penalties etc.

·         Undertaking required reporting, both internal and statutory.

·         Setting up new starters.

·         Calculation and processing of termination payments.

·         Processing increases and calculating back pays.

·         Assisting in Payroll with month end consolidation.

·         Assisting in Payroll with reconciliation and payment of payroll and group tax.

·         Reconciling payroll related GL accounts.

·         Calculating annual leave and LSL provisions/accruals.

·         Compilation of workers compensation remuneration for premium calculation purposes.

·         Compliance to external legislation as well as internal finance & HR policies and procedures.

·         Ongoing maintenance and update of payroll procedures.

·         Other duties as delegated from time to time.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

Minimum four 5  to 7 years of full function experience in payroll within a medium to large organisation (employees on payroll >400).Experience with Time & Attendance systems with 24/7 rostering.Good understanding of payroll legislation and required processes ie. Income Tax and superannuation.Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict (often conflicting) deadlines.Strong attention to detail.Legislative and Award compliance – ability to interpret relevant awards, EAs and employment legislation.Sound organisational and time management skills.A committed and proactive attitude towards Environment, Health and Safety.A strong team player.Customer Service Focus 

Language Skills:

Good written and oral communication skills 

Computer Skills:

People works / ADP Payroll System Experience 

Work Environment:

Manufacturing Industry payroll experience
