Payroll Specialist
**SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:** As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of assigned weekly and/or bi-weekly OPCO payroll transactions. You are expected to understand and manage statutory requirements, along with policy changes and updates to ensure the reconciliation of payroll meets audit requirements. The Payroll Specialist will possess significant experience in multi-state payroll processing, the ability to multi-task in a challenging and ever-changing environment while delivering exceptional customer service to improve the satisfaction of our business partners. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Responsible for the timely and accurate processing/auditing of payroll and related processes for assigned business units, including weekly, biweekly, quarterly, and year-end tasks, audits, and special projects. + Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations, FLSA compliance and labor laws. + Performs various analysis, researches, and resolves discrepancies related to payroll processing. + Develops and maintains awareness of SOX 1 controls and is accountable for compliance for each task performed. + Build relationships of trust, respect, and partners with field contacts by providing excellent customer service. + Identify areas requiring process improvement and escalate to payroll leadership. + Run variance reports and review the accuracy of the payroll data entered + Assist with the preparation for quarter/year-end processing. + Assist with annual enrollment, year-end testing and performing applicable end dating activities as needed. + Input and validate payrolls accurately and timely based on company policy and guidelines. + Reconcile GL and payroll outstanding items on a per pay period basis. + Ensures the integrity of payroll data based on Sarbanes Oxley requirements. **EDUCATION REQUIRED:** + Associate degree in Business Administration or Accounting (or equivalent in education and experience). **EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:** + A minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience. + Large volume and high complexity payroll experience. + Multi-state taxation and Year-End processing experience. + Workday Integrated Payroll experience. **LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED :** + Knowledge of Workday Payroll, Workday HR, Workday Finance, and Timekeeping systems preferred. + Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), and/or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred. + Proficiency with MS Office Excel and payroll processing software **TECHNICAL SKILLS and ABILITIES** **:** + Knowledge of payroll gross to net, FLSA overtime, minimum wage, and regular rate of pay. + Effective interpersonal communication skills (oral, written and listening). + Demonstrates analytical skills, including root-cause analysis. + Ability to handle confidential information in a discrete manner is crucial. + Proficient with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, large volume data manipulation). + Must be a quick learner and able to adapt to a fast-paced payroll environment. + Able to prioritize workload and adhere to tight deadlines with attention to detail. **LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:** English **PHYSICAL** **DEMANDS:** Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.
