Payroll Specialist

NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing bi-weekly and weekly payrolls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
This hybrid position is based at our office near the Galleria area, requiring in-office presence 2-3 days per week.
Responsibilities
Process bi-weekly and weekly payrolls for hourly, salaried, and commission employees across multiple states. Review and update payroll-related deductions and changes. Enter employee information into the payroll system, including pay class, time off policies, allowances, and direct deposit details. Update city, state, and federal withholdings. Maintain payroll reports for reconciliations and assist with resolving payroll variances. Address payroll-related questions and issues from employees. Perform maintenance and resolve issues related to Bonus Plus. Submit liens and wage garnishments to ADP and research related issues. Serve as backup for monthly union dues and pension reporting. Stay current with applicable state and federal wage and hour laws. Ensure confidentiality of employee pay records. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.Qualifications
Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Intermediate proficiency in Excel. 2+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with at least six months of payroll processing experience.
