Payroll Specialist

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Payroll Specialist at the Benito Juarez, Mexico City, MX location. This position is a full-time long-term temporary position.

The Payroll Specialist, under limited supervision, will prepare and process payroll and other financial documents. Review, calculate, and process payroll changes and adjustments. Review and reconcile payroll records for accuracy. Prepare and execute state and federal payroll taxes. Provide information to employees and outside agencies regarding payroll issues. Calculate and process all elected and mandatory payroll deductions including taxes, child support orders, insurance, and garnishments.

What we’re looking for 

Education: Degree

Experience: 3 + years of experience with Mexico Payroll

C-1/C-2 level of English both spoken and written

Experience using third-party payroll vendors such as ADP or Safeguard

Strong organizational skills

Strong interpersonal skills

High level of accuracy and attention to detail

Team player

Ability to respond to internal requests for support and assistance promptly and professionally and prioritize/ re-prioritize appropriately

Strong time management, problem-solving, and analytical skills

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Workday PECI integrations (desired)

How you will thrive and create an impact 

Ensure that all employees are paid accurately and on time, ensuring compliance in line with local laws as well as internal company policies.

Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure all necessary payroll changes are incorporated into payroll on a timely basis.

Assume full responsibility for the checking of trial and final payroll outputs which includes pay slips, gross to-net reports, pay period variance analysis, payment files, and statutory filings

Ensure accurate pay period end and month end reporting including the creation and reconciliation of payroll journals & support the finance team with open queries

Process off-cycle payments including final salary, bonuses, and commissions 

Provide hands-on support to queries received from employees, HR, supervisors, managers, and the local government offices in a timely manner

Ensure all statutory filings, tax returns, and statutory reports required by local authorities are submitted in line with locally defined deadlines.

Stay updated on local legislation.  In collaboration with the external payroll vendor, ensure compliance across the payrolls you manage

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports for internal stakeholders, including finance and HR.  

Ensure all process documentation is kept up to date

Support internal and external payroll audit requests

Demonstrate complete discretion and confidentiality

Assist with other payroll and accounting projects
