As a Payroll Specialist, you will:
Perform and accurately complete full-cycle payroll activities with all Business Office Managers and the People & Culture Team to ensure that team members are paid on time and that their paychecks are accurate. Review team member time cards to ensure that information is properly recorded. Owns responsibility for ensuring the department leader has reviewed all records and that records have the signatures of authorizing officials. Remain up to date on changes to IRS and DOL (and similar) rules as they govern the payroll process. In collaboration with the Controller and CFO (and People & Culture leaders, as needed) ensure current payroll activities are in alignment with any changes to these requirements. Work closely with the People and Culture Team to assure benefit deductions and billings are accurate and verified against team member enrollments recorded in payroll. Have a shared responsibility for informing leaders and other team members about procedural changes in payroll policies. Ensure upcoming payroll deadlines or activities are pro-actively communicated in the appropriate manner to prepare the organization for information that may impact team members’ payroll. Serve as a subject matter expert and super-user related to WesleyLife’s Payroll / HR system (UKG). Create and share reports from the system for the purposes of ensuring the accuracy of payroll processing and for the purposes of creating needed reports that require payroll data. Serve as the primary contact for any wage adjustment authorities and the primary contact and SME for unemployment tax deductions and the organization’s self-funded accounts. Ensure SUTA is handled accurately for all states in which the organization serves. Serve as primary contact for payroll-related auditors, providing reports and consultation whenever required.We are looking for an individual that can build strong working relationships with finance, senior management, and business leads, all while having high levels of customer satisfaction with internal customers and ensuring timely, accurate and reliable payroll processes.
