Serves as a trusted member of the Payroll team, providing local expertise, proactive solutions, and quality support for payroll related matters.
This role will report to the Payroll Manager in Canada.
Role accountabilities:
As a member of the Local People Service team, we are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our payroll team. Reporting to the Canadian Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in managing the end-to-end bi-weekly payroll process for our 3,000 employees across Canada. This role requires a deep understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
In more detail, the Payroll Specialist will:
Work with a team to process and administer bi-weekly payroll for 3,000 employees across multiple provinces using ADP Workforce Now (WFN PayTech). Ensure timely and accurate payment of salaries, wages, bonuses, and other compensation. Verify and input employee data, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and statutory deductions. Perform payroll audits to ensure data accuracy and compliance with company policies and legislative requirements. Serve as point of contact for payroll inquires and provides resolution in a timely manner. · Partner with Project Finance, Accounting Systems, HRIS, People Services, and HR COEs to ensure timely and effective delivery of Payroll. Stay current with federal and provincial payroll legislation, including employment standards, taxation, and statutory deductions (e.g., CPP, EI, QPP, WCB). Prepare and submit payroll-related remittances, including payroll taxes, ROEs, and garnishments, in a timely manner. Reconcile payroll accounts and assist in year-end activities, including preparation of T4s, RL-1s, and other regulatory filings. Collaborate with other teams to streamline payroll processes and identify areas for automation or improvement. Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential. Become a subject matter expert in assigned sub-areas in payroll and cross-train with other team members as a backup. · Other duties as assigned.Qualifications & Experience:
The candidate should have an associates degree, or equivalent work experience, and a minimum of two years of payroll experience.
Diploma or degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field Minimum of 3 – 5 year of experience in end-to-end Canadian payroll processing, preferably in a large organization PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) certification from the National Payroll Institute (NPI) is an asset Ability to deal with high volume and demanding clients Ability to multi-task, stay composed, and working effectively toward tight deadlines Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation across all provinces and territories Attention to detail and thoroughness. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills Highly organized. · Prior work with ADP Workforce Now is required Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and other office tools Familiarity with Oracle HCM is an asset Must be able to work off hours on occasion (evening, weekend, holiday) due to payroll deadlines or if there are challenges submitting payrollWhy Arcadis?

The salary range for this position is $56,000-$70,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role. #LI-CB3 #LI-Hybrid
