Payroll Specialist
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with experience in multi-state payroll processing to ensure accurate and compliant payroll operations. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations, and the ability to collaborate with HR and management teams. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Duties/Responsibilities: + Enter, maintain, and process payroll information, including multi-state employee payroll data, hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses, time worked, paid leave, deductions, and tax withholdings. + Assist with processing payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other withholdings. + Work closely with management teams across multiple states to process timekeeping and payroll adjustments accurately. + Provide payroll system and timekeeping support to employees, addressing questions and resolving issues. + Collaborate with the Human Resources Department on employee maintenance and HRIS updates. + Process and complete employment verifications as needed. + Assist with reconciling payroll general ledger accounts and monthly bank statements. + Issue or reissue physical or replacement checks and direct deposits due to errors or final discharge. + Ensure the timely and accurate processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes. + Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws across multiple states. + Stay informed of state-specific payroll tax regulations and ensure accurate tax withholdings and filings. + Facilitate audits by preparing and providing payroll records and documentation. + Process and manage payroll-related inquiries and requests. + Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements + 5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing. + Strong understanding of multi-state payroll principles, practices, and procedures. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. + Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. + Effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. + Proficiency in payroll software, preferably ADP or similar platforms. Education: + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field or a related field. (or 5+ years of payroll experience). + Certified Payroll Professional certification. (Not Mandatory but a Plus) Physical Requirements: + Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. + Must be able to lift up to 15-25 pounds at times.
