Work collaboratively across departments to ensure data integrity, compliance with policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION One to two years of college credit (30 credit hours are equivalent to one year) in accounting, business, or certification in a related field required. Associate’s degree preferred
EXPERIENCEThree years of job (payroll) related experience required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Responsible for timely and accurate day to day payroll processing. Enter and verify all payroll entries including plus adjustments, minus adjustments, tax and direct deposit data. Process and maintain time and attendance hours, leave accruals and leave adjustments within the payroll platforms which includes Kronos and Colleague. Complete full cycle payroll processes on a biweekly basis for two payroll runs according the current policies and procedures ensuring accurate pay, taxation and deductions. Transmits tax withholding payment to various tax agencies. Creates and transmits positive pay files (manual checks). Validate and prepare off cycle payroll runs as requested according to the off-cycle schedule. Process wage garnishments and tax levies. Calculate and process payroll adjustments for separation/termination. Monitor payroll inbox and respond to employee inquires while maintaining confidentiality regarding all payroll data. Prepare various pay calendars and pay schedules. Assists with audit and reconciliations as needed. Communicate and respond to inquiries from agency representatives for employee deductions. Maintain a working knowledge of payroll compliance. Performs related work as required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Excellent attention to detail skills. Exceptional mathematical and calculation skills. Verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as team oriented. Knowledge of payroll, garnishments and benefits distribution. Ability to address students, faculty and staff in a profession manner Ability to analyze problems, recommend solutions and suggest process improvements Job Requirements PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.OTHER REQUIREMENTS Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
