Payroll Specialist JobID: 331 + Position Type: Secretarial/Clerical/ Payroll + Date Posted: 2/21/2025 + Location: Administration Center + Date Available: 05/01/2025 Central DeWitt Community School District Payroll Specialist Job Description February 2025 Position: Payroll Specialist Qualifications: High School Graduate, 2-year degree preferred, 3-5 years of payroll experience Reports To: Chief Financial Officer Support and Guidance Provided By: Chief Financial Officer and Superintendent POSITION SUMMARY: To perform all activities necessary to process all payrolls accurately and timely, provide employee benefit support and accounting support. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS (but not limited to): + Responsible for all the payroll processes and activities of the district, including monthly payrolls. + Responsible for all payroll tax activities, including compliance with state and federal regulations and filing all payroll tax reports, bi-monthly, quarterly, and yearly on a timely basis. Responsible for all tax deposits without penalty. + Processes and calculates all involuntary deductions, such as levies and garnishments; communicates with the agencies involved. + Administers a variety of deductions and remits payment to the corresponding agencies. + Maintains payroll and uploads the accumulation of sick days, vacation and personal days. + Prepares various payroll reports for auditors. + Provides backup for onboarding/off boarding of new, retiring and employees that have resigned. + Completes forms of verification and wage earning reports from regulatory agencies. + Prepares and issues all employee and extracurricular contracts/letters of assignment. + Create and maintains all employee, substitute and coach records. + Sets up and deactivates employee access in various applications. + Helps with workers compensation and unemployment claims. + Helps prepare the personnel report and recommendations for hiring for School Board meetings. + Is responsible for ACA reporting and issuing 1095’s. + Helps prepare and complete IPERS forms for employees and keeps employee information updated on the IPERS website. + Works extensively in software systems to perform a variety of tasks including absence balance rollover, creating a master calendar, setting up vacancies and entering closed days. + Processes receipts and deposits for the Administration Center. + Performs such other duties as necessary. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School graduate, 2 year degree preferred Other: + Computer skills + Well organized + Independent decision making skills + Ability to maintain confidentiality + Ability to relate to people + Works courteously and cooperatively with other staff members + Effectively implements the goals and objectives of the District
