Position Overview

The Payroll Support Specialist will assist the payroll department by performing various administrative tasks related to payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate payroll distribution, and maintaining employee records. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with employees and management.

Weeks provides a cohesive dredging services lifecycle, specializing in capital and maintenance dredging for deep or shallow draft navigation in addition to coastal restoration and protection. 

Location

This position is based out of our Covington, Louisiana office. 

Responsibilities

Assist in the review, processing, and corrections of payroll for employees.

Review and verify employee time and attendance, including hours worked, additional wages, and travel premiums. Ensure proper deductions and benefits information is processed. Collaborate with the HR department to ensure accurate employee data for payroll purposes.

Record Maintenance:

Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, promotions, and wage changes. Ensure all payroll documentation is accurate and stored in compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Assist with the filing and retrieval of payroll-related documents.

Communication and Support:

Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding payroll-related inquiries and issues. Address and resolve discrepancies or issues related to payroll, benefits, or deductions. Provide customer service by responding to employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, and tax withholding. Sends out weekly payroll reports to projects for review

 Administrative Duties:

Provide general administrative support to the payroll and HR department. Schedule and coordinate meetings or training related to payroll and compliance. Maintain a filing system for payroll-related documents and correspondence. Takes phones calls from salaried, hourly, main office, and others and responds to their needs or routes the calls properly

Other Duties:

  Perform other duties as assigned to support the payroll department and organizational goals.   Fills in to arrange travel, car rental and hotel as needed when crew coordinators are out of office. Qualifications

●    Previous clerical experience with Marine or Heavy Construction experience preferred.
●    Proficient skills in standard office software packages. Microsoft Excel
●    Ability to work a 40-hour work week, M-F, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., additional hours as needed.
●    This position requires fluent use of the verbal and written English language 

Physical Requirements

●    Ability to remain in seated stationary position for long periods of time
●    Ability to navigate around office to use equipment as needed
●    Light lifting (up to 20 lbs.) as needed
